Brad Pitt wanted for ALL YOU NEED IS KILL

Warner Bros. is looking to cast Brad Pitt in a new film adaptation of the Japanese novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka All You Need is Kill. The studio bought a script for the film written by Dante Harper in April of last year, and they paid a shitload of money for it. This is going to make for a hell of a great film, and Pitt jumping on board the project definitely won't hurt.

The story is described as follows:

There’s one thing worse than dying. It’s coming back to do it again and again…When the alien Gitai invade, Keiji Kiriya is just one of many raw recruits shoved into a suit of battle armor and sent out to kill. Keiji dies on the battlefield, only to find himself reborn each morning to fight and die again and again. On the 158th iteration though, he sees something different, something out of place: the female soldier known as the Bitch of War. Is the Bitch the key to Keiji’s escape, or to his final death?

It's like a sci-fi battle version of Groundhog Day and Source Code... which if you think about it is pretty cool. This sounds like it's got potential to be a pretty freakin awesome flick. I wonder who the studio will bring on to direct the movie.

It seems to have taken a long time to get this film project going. Vulture gives some insight into that saying, "For months, the problem with the movie was its third act: Eventually, it begins to play like a big-screen version of Halo, where the protagonist dispatches aliens in the same rote way as a twelve year old who’s played too much X-Box 360. We’re told, however, that a new draft of the Kill script has resolved this to the studio’s satisfaction."

Brad Pitt is not officially signed on to the movie, but if he does sign on you'll get no complaints from me. The guy is a great actor, and he proves it is Moneyball. What are your thoughts on Pitt possibly taking on the lead role?
